Student Services

This video provides information to parents and guardians regarding substance abuse prevention. The information presented is provided by the Office of Student Services in conjunction with the Arlington Department of Human Services.

Food and Nutrition Services

As students begin to gradually transition back to schools for Hybrid/In-Person Learning, the Office of Food and Nutrition Services wants to share information with families about what students can expect when receiving breakfast and lunch at their school.

Using Canvas

This video was created for students and parents, by the Office of Enterprise Solutions in Arlington Public Schools. It provides an overview of Canvas, Arlington’s Learning Management System, from a web browser view. Learn how to know where to find what to do, when it’s due, how you did, and how to ask for help, via various tools in Canvas. Overview includes: managing Account, using the Dashboard, Calendar, To Do list, finding feedback, and ways to communicate with a Teacher via Canvas.

Using Seesaw

This video provides an overview of Seesaw: a student-driven digital platform, and how this tool is being used by grades pre-k through 5, to engage students and strengthen the home-school connection specifically during this time of distance learning. More information with directions on how to log-in to Seesaw from home will be added soon.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

This video was created by a panel of school psychologists from the Office of Student Services. It highlights the added importance of Social Emotional Learning during this time of Distance Learning and briefly discusses the services that are available in Arlington Public Schools. The video also shares suggestions for creating a successful learning environment for our students at home.

Activities & Athletics

This video was created by the Office of Health, Physical and Driver Education & Athletics in Arlington Public Schools. It provides a brief overview of the programs and services available during this time of distance learning that extend outside of the instructional day. This video will share information on clubs, activities and athletics. It will be updated as more information becomes available.

Fine Arts

This video was created by a panel of Arts Education faculty members. It provides a brief overview of the Arts Education program and services available in Arlington Public Schools during this time of distance learning. An example of a virtual concert, performed by elementary students, is shared within the video.

Early Childhood – VPI and PreK

This video was created by the Office of Elementary and Early Childhood. It provides a brief overview of the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) virtual home visits for families in the Arlington Public Schools.

Special Education

This video was created by a panel of staff members from the Office of Special Education and the Special Education Parent Resource Center (PRC). It provides a brief overview of special education services and supports that are available in Arlington Public Schools during this time of distance learning. The video also shares several suggestions for creating a successful learning environment for students with disabilities at home.

English Learners

This video was created by the Office of English Learners. It provides a brief overview of English Learner services available in Arlington Public Schools. It addresses how English Learners (ELs) will be supported both academically and emotionally during this time of distance learning.

Gifted Students

This video was created by the Office of Gifted Services in Arlington Public Schools. It provides a brief overview of how services are delivered through a collaborative cluster approach in kindergarten through 12th grade. A panel of resource teachers for the gifted (RTGs), representing elementary, middle and high school, share their perspectives on how services need not change in a distance learning model even though the primary mode for how teachers deliver gifted services has changed.
